Abstract | The two major topics of this Eurobarometer are: 1. Attitude to the European Community and to the Common Market, 2. Attitude to the impending election of the European Parliament. Topics: 1. Attitude to the EC: satisfaction with the functioning of democracy and attitude to the change of the social system; importance of political goals; interest in problems of the EC; judgement on the past and the future of the European Community; instinctive support of the European unification movement; assessment of general agreement and solidarity to be expected among the member countries; preference for European Community actions or independent national actions; attitude to membership of the country in the EC and personal willingness to make sacrifices for the European idea; attitude to joining by Spain. 2. On the European Election: degree of familiarity of the election to the European Parliament and attitude to the European Election and judgement on the significance of this election; intent to participate in the election; judgement on whether the candidate´s concept of Europe is more important than party affiliation. 3. Miscellaneous: general contentment with life and feeling of happiness; left-right orientation; party preference and party ties; political orientation of father; opinion leadership. Demography: age; sex; marital status; nationality; religious denomination; religiousness; school education; occupation; company size; household income; size of household; composition of household; head of household. |
