AbstractComputer and internet use at school. Topics: average weekly number of hours of internet use in teaching; average weekly number of hours of computer use in teaching in the following levels of education: primary, secondary, professional or technical; reasons for not using the internet in teaching; reasons for not using computers in teaching; assessment of the internet as a useful tool to support own teaching programme; expected impact of the internet on personal way of teaching; use of the internet to communicate with other schools in: own region, own country, Europe, internationally; internet or computer use for the following reasons: support own teaching, practical exercises, find information, exploit information and data, present works or projects; personal official training for internet and computer use in teaching; time of last official training; number of training hours; recognition of personal computer or internet competence with regard to career evaluation; possession of: computer at home, internet connection at home; computer or internet use at home for the following reasons: administrative school work, preparation of support materials for teaching, search for information to prepare classes, communication with pupils or parents, private use. Demography: sex; age; number of teaching hours per week in the following levels of education: primary, secondary, professional or technical; main teaching subject.     The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
