AbstractAttitude to further development of the EU and to involvement in Yugoslavia. Topics: Attitude to membership of the country in the European Union and assessment of the advantageousness of this membership; satisfaction with democracy; approval of a European currency union, common foreign policy, common defense policy as well as a European Central bank; approval of military intervention of the European Community in the Yugoslavia conflict; approval of selected political, economic and military measures of the EU, the UN and NATO in former Yugoslavia; attitude to admission of new members (Austria, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey and Switzerland) into the European Union; knowledge about the white book of the EC Commission on growth, competitive ability and employment; expected effects of this white book; age at conclusion of school or university education; party preference (Sunday question); behavior at the polls in the last election.

NotesThe study is part of an omnibus survey. The Flash Eurobarometers are short interviews, introduced between the semi-annual Eurobarometers and taking up current European topics. Further Flash Eurobarometers are archived under ZA Study Nos. 2330, 2362 to 2365 as well as 2401, 2402, 2470, 2471 and 2571 to 2573.   •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
