AbstractJudgement on parties and politicians at the state parliament election in Bavaria. Topics: eligible voter status of respondent; city size; most important political problems of Bavaria; intent to participate in the election; intent to use absentee ballot; party preference (first vote and second vote as well as rank order procedure); certainty of one´s voting decision; significance of the state parliament election at the level of federal politics; behavior at the polls in the last state parliament election; attitude to a CSU one-party government; coalition preference; sympathy scale for the parties at state as well as federal level and for the top politicians at the federal level as well as at the state level; satisfaction scale for the CSU government in the state, the Bavarian SPD opposition as well as the achievements of the Federal Government; interest in politics; degree of familiarity of Edmund Stoiber and Renate Schmidt; opinion of Edmund Stoiber as prime minister; assessment of the involvement of Stoiber in the so-called Amigo Affair; judgement on the economic situation of Bavaria and economic prognosis; assessment of personal economic situation and expected further development; comparison of the economic situation of Bavaria with the rest of the federal territory; ability of a CSU-led or an SPD-led state government in economic questions, the combat against unemployment, crime, environmental protection, foreigner policies as well as the situation in the housing market; tenant status; voting for candidates or parties; expected winner of the state parliament election in Bavaria; expected chances for a one-party government by the CSU; chances for the small parties such as FDP, Alliance 90/Greens and Republicans to gain seats in the state parliament; intent to participate in the Federal Parliament election in October; preferred party in the Federal Parliament election; living together with a partner; completed studies; recognition of the technical college degree from the East in Western Germany; completed apprenticeship; assessment of job security; religiousness; union member in household; close persons whose job is endangered or are unemployed; party inclination and party identification.

NotesThe survey took place from 15 until 23 September (839 respondents) as well as on the election day, 25 September 1994 (6911 respondents). The survey was commissioned by the ZDF {Second German Television Network} and served as basis for the projection and analyses of election results on the evening of the election.
