AbstractAttitude towards Euro and knowledge on its introduction. Topics: Self-assessment of one´s state of knowledge on the Euro; knowledge test on the exact date of the introduction of the Euro in one´s own country as well as on the duration of the transitional phase in which the old currency could still be used; perception of the dual pricing of products; memorisation of certain prices in Euro; improve memory by stressed representation; fear of abuse in the course of introduction of the Euro (scale); knowledge test on the EU-wide validity of all Euro notes and coins as well as on the established exchange rate specifications already carried out in one´s own country; assessment of specific consequences of the introduction of the Euro on: Price comparison, equal meaning of the Euro with the dollar as an international currency, economic growth, gap between rich and poor, jobs, purchases in other countries with Euro currency, exchange charges, travelling within the EU, price stability, personal advantages, government control of the economic policy, national identity; concern about the value of the Euro compared with the dollar; one´s personal and professional experience with the Euro; knowledge of the exchange rate of Euro and national currency. Demography: Sex; age; age when finished full time education; professional position; party preference; region; size of locality.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
