AbstractConvention on the Future of Europe. Topics: awareness of the Convention on the Future of Europe; kind of text of the Convention: declaration, directive, charter, draft Constitutional Treaty; interest in the Convention: read summary, read draft in detail, not read draft, already read draft; satisfaction with the work of the Convention on the Future of Europe; attitude towards selected measures aimed at reforming the current functioning of the European Union: Constitution for the EU, single Minister of Foreign Affairs for the EU, single President of the European Council, vote of the European Parliament on every decision concerning the future of the EU; attitude towards a referendum on the draft of the European Constitution; knowledge test on the final document of the Convention on the Future of Europe: will automatically become future European Constitution, will be discussed by Heads of State and possibly modified, will be subject to vote by national parliaments, will be subject to a referendum in each member state; attitude towards the Convention on the Future of Europe: should be adopted as it is by Heads of State or government leaders, should be partially modified by Heads of State or government leaders, should be radically modified by Heads of State or government leaders, should be rejected in order to keep current treaties in force. Demography: sex; age; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; region; type of community. Additionally coded was: respondent ID; country; interviewer ID; weighting factor.

    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
