AbstractMedia usage of the West German population in 1968. Topics: Frequency of use of magazines, magazine subscription clubs, newspapers purchased singly and subscription newspapers; place of reading; possession of television set and television habits; paying attention to television and radio commercials; attitudes to color television; smoking habits; consumer habits; consumption inclination (scale); formation of capital and provision for old age; vacation trips and airplane travel; beverage consumption; conducting a housekeeping book. Index: consumer typology. Demography: age (classified); sex; marital status; religious denomination; school education; vocational training; occupation; employment; household income; size of household; head of household; housing situation; city size; state. Interviewer rating: day of survey; willingness of respondent to cooperate and difficulties with interview; number of contact attempts.

Further Remarks

NotesThe survey was divided into two separate surveys with in part different questionnaires. 1. DIVO sample: 12000 respondents (primary sample), 2. INFRATEST sample: 3000 survey units (daughter sample). From these two separate samples a set of cards was produced with 12000 synthetic persons. This fusion was achieved in that via a system of variables, presenting the links between the persons of the two investigations, "identical" respondents were combined into new person units with characteristics from both samples. The reader analyses for the years before 1968 are stored under ZA Study Nos. 0210 and 0255 to 0263.
