AbstractJudgement on parties and politicians at the state parliament election in Lower Saxony. Topics: Eligible voter status of respondent; city size; most important political problems of Lower Saxony; intent to participate in the election; intent to use absentee ballot; party preference (first vote and second vote as well as rank order procedure); certainty and time of personal voting decision; behavior at the polls in the last state parliament election; attitude to an SPD one-party government; coalition preference; sympathy scale for the parties on state as well as federal level and for the top politicians at the federal as well as state level; satisfaction with the SPD-Greens government in Lower Saxony and the opposition parties CDU and FDP as well as with the achievements of the Federal Government; knowledge about the top candidates for the state parliament election; preference for prime minister; assumed unity of the top candidates of the SPD and CDU with their respective state parties; judgement on the economic situation of Lower Saxony and economic forecast; assessment of personal economic situation and expected further development; comparison of the economic situation of Lower Saxony with the rest of the federal territory; ability of an SPD-led or CDU-led state government in economic questions, the fight against unemployment, the fight against crime, improving the situation in the housing market, environmental protection and solving the questions of applicants for political asylum; satisfaction with the situation in the housing market; tenant status; satisfaction with avoiding a strike in the metal industry of Lower Saxony as well as judgement on the wage increases agreed to; expected winner in the state parliament election in Lower Saxony; expected chances for a one-party government of the SPD and assessment of the chances of the FDP, the Statt-Party and the Republicans to obtain seats in the state parliament; judgement on the election campaign effort of party members for their parties; union member in household; religiousness; unemployed and close persons whose job is endangered; party inclination and party identification.

NotesThe survey took place from 8 to 11 March as well as on the day of the election (7986 respondents). The survey was commissioned by the ZDF {Second German Television Network} and served as basis for the projection and analyses of election results on the evening of the election.
