Abstract | Attitudes towards car use and the use of public transportation systems. Topics: attitude towards replacing existing car charges by schemes on the basis of actual car use; willingness to compromise on the following characteristics in order to reduce emissions: speed, size, range, costs of acquisition, other; reasons for not using public transport system: lack of reliability, lack of connection, lack of information on schedules, low service frequency, security concerns, too expensive, inconvenient; willingness to use public transport more frequently in case of existing single tickets; preconditions to combine different modes of transport instead of using own car. Demography: sex; age; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; type of community; most often used modes of transport. Additionally coded was: interview ID; interviewer ID; language of the interview; country; date of interview; time of the beginning of the interview; duration of the interview; type of phone line; call history; region; weighting factor. |

Telephone interviews were conducted in each country, with the exception of the Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia where both telephone and face-to-face interviews were conducted (70% webCATI and 30% F2F interviews).
