Abstract | Knowledge and use of emergency numbers. Topics: use of national emergency numbers or of the international emergency number 112; kind of called emergency numbers in the last twelve months (Split); knowledge of the European Union-wide emergency number 112; perceived information on the emergency number 112 in the last twelve months in the own country; source of the information; perceived information about other emergency numbers in the own country; people in the own country are adequately informed about the existence of the emergency number 112; sufficient action is being taken in the own country to facilitate contact to emergency services via 112 for disabled users; travels to other EU countries in the past twelve months. Demography: age; nationality; sex; age at end of education; occupation, professional position; region; type of community; own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; household composition and household size. Additionally coded was: respondent ID; language of the interview; type of phone line; date of interview; time of the beginning of the interview; duration of the interview; country; weighting factor. |

Universe | Population of the respective nationalities of the European Union Member States, resident in each of the 27 Member States and aged 15 years and over. The survey covers the national population of citizens (in these countries) as well as the population of citizens of all the European Union Member States that are residents in these countries and have a sufficient command of the national languages to answer the questionnaire. |
