AbstractSpace activities of the European Union. Topics: awareness of Galileo, Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), collision risks between satellites or space debris; importance of space derived services and space technologies with regard to the following issues: economic development in the EU, development of innovative terrestrial applications, EU policies; prioritized fields within the EU to use space technology related achievements in; most useful navigation-based services for handheld devices; personal use of navigation systems; role of the EU and the member states with regard to developing: space monitoring system to prevent collisions between satellites and space debris, space monitoring system to manage disasters and mitigate the effects of climate change, space exploration programme with humans and robots; attitude towards more EU activity in the field of space exploration. Demography: age; sex; nationality; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; region; type of community; own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; household composition and household size. Additionally coded was: type of phone line; country; weighting factor.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
     The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
