Abstract | Family and life situation of working mothers. Job situation. Attitudes towards the role of women and the situation of women. 1. Family and life situation: Satisfaction with life: satisfaction with the current life situation; satisfaction with selected areas of life (housing situation, financial situation, relationship with parents, partnership or marriage, job situation and family situation). Family situation and family image: situation of parents or parents-in-law; support for parents and / or parents-in-law, ideas and expectations regarding ideal family and gender roles (family image). Current life situation and burdens: family: personal ranking of the living areas job or career, family, leisure and friends; general feeling of burden and in various areas (house work, childcare and upbringing, employment, support for parents or parents-in-law); approval to statements on the situation of working mothers (e.g. bad conscience towards the children, etc.); wish for relief (eg greater support by partner, tax relief for the costs of a household allowance or the costs of care, etc.); expected development of the burden on the child (s); burden on the support and, where appropriate, care of the parents or parents-in-law and requests for relief in this area; expected development of the burden on the parents and, if applicable, parents-in-law. 2. Job situation: Satisfaction with the personal job situation and that of the partner; ideal of the extent of one´s own work (and that of the partner); important aspects related to the own job and workplace (job security, adequate income, the possibility of self-realization, career opportunities, etc.); importance of occupation and career after birth of the child compared to before; re-entry after the birth of the child; motives for returning to work; reasons for time reduction; desired opportunities for relief in the context of employment; assessment of developments in one´s own company with regard to: reconciling family and career, equal opportunities for advancement for men and women, equal pay for men and women with comparable qualifications and activity); support opportunities offered by the employer in the own company (e.g., home office); preferred duration for house work, childcare and upbringing, employment and support for parents or parents-in-law. 4. Attitudes towards the role of women and the situation of women: attitudes towards the social role of women; situation in Germany / politics: good compatibility of family and work in Germany; assessment of reasons for the lack of women in management positions; progress of the federal government in various areas (for example reconciling family and career, situation of families with children, equality of opportunity for men and women, etc.); awareness of specific laws and / or projects of the Federal Government (women´s quota, family care time, maternity retirement, and others); assessment of these laws and projects. Demography: sex; age; employment; number of children; other children (e.g. the partner); age (categorized) and life situation of all children; marital status; employment of the partner; party sympathy; vocational training; occupational position; personal net income; household income; migration background; federal state; city size. Additionally coded was: respondent ID; weighting factor. |
