Abstract | Work-life balance and family leave. Topics: 1. Work-life balance: satisfaction with personal work-life balance; flexible work arrangements at own workplace; extent of the following types of flexible work arrangements in own company: part-time, flexitime, telework; attitude towards the following statements on flexible work arrangements in own company: easy to use, employees are discouraged from making use by managers; attitude towards selected statements on the use of flexible work arrangements in own company: badly perceived by colleagues, negative impact on own career, easier to use for women than for men; preferred flexible work arrangements; impact of flexible work arrangements on career choices: better chance to enter paid work, moving from part-time to full-time job, decision to continue work instead of taking extended leave or retire. 2. Family leave: experience with or considerations to take paternity leave; experience with or considerations to take parental leave; reasons for not taking parental leave; proportion of salary at which family leave would be taken; most important factors encouraging fathers to take parental leave; attitude towards the following statements on family leave in own company: easy to use, employees are discouraged from making use by managers; attitude towards selected statements on taking family leave in own company: badly perceived by colleagues, negative impact on own career, easier to use for women than for men; preferred measures in case of the need to care for a relative: take dependent care leave, take annual leave, take sick leave, telework, take time off at short notice that can be compensated at another time, other, none. Demography: occupation; professional position; employment status; marital status; caring responsibilities; age; sex; nationality; age at end of education; type of community; own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; household composition and household size; region. Additionally coded was: respondent ID; country; type of phone line; nation group; weighting factor. |
