AbstractAttitude of the population to current political topics. Judgement on parties and politicians at state and federal level. Topics: judgement on the economic situation as well as the economic development of the FRG and the state Rhineland-Palatinate; expected development of personal standard of living; political interest and extent to which informed politically; most important task of the FRG as well as of the state Rhineland-Palatinate; preferred prime minister; degree of familiarity of selected state politicians; advantages and disadvantages of Bernhard Vogel and Klaus v. Dohnany; satisfaction with government and opposition in Rhineland-Palatinate; classification of the relevance of political issues; issue ability of the parties; assumed election result of the next state parliament election; certainty of one´s voting decision; detailed determination of party preference by means of different question formulations (among others ballot procedure and Sunday question); self-assessment on a left-right continuum as well as classification of the parties and prime minister candidates on a 20-level left-right continuum; agreement with politicians and parties; personal opinion leadership or opinion allegiance; assumed party preference of opinion leader; sympathy scale and scale of the ability of selected state politicians and the parties; semantic differential for prime minister candidates; party preference of spouse; party preference at federal level; satisfaction with the Federal Government and opposition in Federal Parliament; preferred federal chancellor; judgement on the populism of the parties; contact with authorities; image of authorities and offices (semantic differentials); attitude to the ban on employment of radicals as teachers and civil servants; satisfaction with the political system in the Federal Republic; preferred sources of information on political questions; frequency of reading the political part of daily newspapers; preferred daily newspaper and its political orientation; frequency of use of television news; preference for a certain state. Demography: age; sex; marital status; religious denomination; frequency of church attendance; religiousness; school education; occupational position; employment; number of recipients of income; household income; household size; household composition; respondent is head of household; characteristics of head of household; self-assessment of social class; personal membership in a union or membership of other members of household. Interviewer rating: degree of urbanization; length of interview; district code. Also encoded was: city size; municipality code; length of interview.
