AbstractJudgement on parties and politicians in the metropolitan council election in Hamburg. Topics: Most important political problems in Hamburg; intent to participate in the election; intent to use absentee ballot; party preference (Sunday question, rank order procedure); certainty of one´s voting decision; behavior at the polls in the last metropolitan council election; attitude to a one-party government of the SPD after the metropolitan council election; coalition preference; sympathy scale for the parties at state as well as federal level and for selected top politicians; satisfaction scale for the SPD senate in Hamburg, the CDU opposition and the Federal Government in Bonn; knowledge about the top candidates in the metropolitan council election; ability of an SPD-led senate in comparison to a CDU-led senate regarding an improvement in economic situation, the fight against unemployment and crime, improvement in the housing market, meaningful traffic policy and solving the problem of applicants for asylum; satisfaction with traffic conditions, the economic situation and the situation in the housing market; tenant status; influence of German unity on the situation of the city; expected winner of the metropolitan council election and expected one-party government of the SPD; chances of the FDP, STATT party, Republicans and DVU {deutsche Volksunion} to obtains seats in the metropolitan council; assessment of election campaign activities of party members; judgement on the decision of the Hamburg Constitutional Court with the consequence of new elections; living together with a partner; university examination; union membership of a household member; religiousness; party inclination and party identification.
