AbstractAttitudes of decision-makers on the EU, a common currency and further development of the community in the next few years. Topics: General attitude to membership of the country in the EU; advantageousness of membership in the EU; most important problems of the EU in the future; assessment of the role of the EU regarding the superpowers; preference for national or supra-national decisions in selected political areas; judgement on selected recommendations on the rights of the European Parliament and the commission; attitude to a common currency in the EU and reasons speaking for or against this; expected effects of a European currency; priority goals of the European Union in the next ten years; expected threat to the vital interests of Europe in the future; self-classification on a left-right continuum; interest in participation in further surveys and preferred time interval; preferred interview method. Demography: sex. Also encoded was: willingness of respondent to cooperate and length of interview.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
