UniverseThe population comprises all German citizens who were at least 18 years old and participated at the Online-Access-Panel by Respondi AG. This panel comprised in 2009 nearly 65000 active members. Recruitment primary works online but also by phone.

Values for answer category 11 “+5 äußerst wünschenswert“ (“+5 very preferable”) of variable A16h had been erroneously saved in variable A16f. 2011-1-24Creation of binary variable teilexp (“Teilnahme am Experiment”, “participation in the experiment”) which indicates which respondents of Online-Tracking T7 also participated in the subsequent experiment. --
2011-1-24Matching the Online-Tracking with the experiment revealed 101 cases in which deviations between sex, age and education occurred. So far, these respondents had been deleted from the data set. For the new pre-release the identification of the respondents has been modified (see new marker variables: mut_sex, mut_age, mut_educ and mutation) but the cases remain in the data set. Thus, the users may decide for themselves whether to include or exclude these cases from their analyses.--
2011-1-24Due to the deviating handling of mutant cases new weights have been constructed (including and excluding mutant cases). A detailed description on weights is included in the method report. --
2011-1-24The 16 dummy variables containing the information on the respondent’s federal state residence have been combined into one variable (T7_01). --
2011-1-24Merging the Online-Tracking data with the experiment data led to an overwriting of the respective data of some system- and time variables. The problem has been corrected.--

  •  German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES)
     The German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) is a DFG-funded project which made its debut just prior to the 2009 federal election. GLES is the largest and most ambitious election study held so far in Germany. Although the initial mandate is to examine and analyse the electorate for three consecutive elections, the aspired goal is to integrate the project within GESIS as an institutionalized election study after the federal election of 2017, and hence to make it a permanent study.
