AbstractJudgement on atmosphere at work, co-determination and job situation by employees of a concern in the coal and steel industry. Topics: Workplace description; length of company employment; time worked each week; attitude to the 40-hour week; actual and preferred wage form; wage satisfaction; work satisfaction; advancement wishes and prospects of promotion; relationship with job and superiors; judgement on one´s own job security; judgement on selected social services and social facilities of the company; knowledge and ideas about co-determination; contacts with work director; judgement on the job of the works council; personal commitment as workers´ representative; attitude to company assembly or preference for smaller meetings; knowledge about the concern and composition of executive and supervisory board; perceived conflicts between ´upper society´ and works council; judgement on one´s own extent to which informed about company matters; housing situation; satisfaction with housing and desire for one´s own home; membership in the trade union; party preference. Demography: age (classified); sex; marital status; number of children; religious denomination; school education; vocational training; professional position; professional career; income; household income; size of household; composition of household; refugee status; possession of durable economic goods; present and past offices held; memberships. Interviewer rating: sincerity and willingness of respondent to cooperate; general impression of trade union activity and company ties of respondent; length of interview.
