AbstractOne year after the end of roaming charges within the EU. Topics: use of mobile phone in another EU country: no use, switch off data roaming capabilities, activate special data roaming plan offered by network operator, use SIM card of the country of visit; frequency of using the following services when being in another EU country: voice calls, text messages, mobile internet; assumed costs for using the aforementioned services in other EU countries compared to own country; awareness of the end of roaming charges within the European Union by 15 June 2017; benefits for respondent himself / herself or for friends and family. Demography: own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; number of active mobile phone numbers; internet access on mobile phone; frequency of traveling to other EU countries in the last twelve months; age; sex; nationality; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; type of community; household composition and household size; region. Additionally coded was: respondent ID; country; type of phone line; nation group; weighting factor.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
