AbstractVacation trips, trips home, image of Germany and social situation of guest workers in the Federal Republic. Topics: Length of stay in Germany; sources of information for trip planning; trip home and means of transport used for this; characterization of preferred means of travel; judgement on the travel offerings of the German Federal Railway; vacation trips within the FRG; positive and negative sides of the stay in the FRG; image of Germany in the native country and disillusioned concepts; general judgement on one´s own situation; actual and desired contacts with countrymen and Germans; dealing with authorities; naming positive German characteristics; assumed attitudes of countrymen regarding Germans; perceived changes of the attitude of Germans to foreign workers; occupational further education and learning the German language; job satisfaction and frequency of change of job; trip to leisure homes; membership in an organization or club; media usage; place of stay of family; rent costs and housing situation; money transfers home. Demography: age (classified); sex; nationality; marital status; number of children; school education; vocational training; occupation; professional position; income; size of household; housing situation; state; possession of durable economic goods.
