AbstractThe occupational and social situation of foreign workers in the Federal Republic as well as judgement on integration possibilities. Topics: Length of stay in the FRG up to now and expected length of stay; trips to native country and means of transport used for this; particular personal difficulties; size of household and time of family´s moving to Germany; number and ages of children; school attendance of children and difficulties in school; help with homework; assumed attitude of Germans to guest workers; judgement on the effort of trade unions, authorities, organizations and associations on problems of foreign workers; most important tasks of the trade unions; satisfaction with job; interest in German citizenship; party sympathy; reading newspapers and magazines; knowledge and use of opportunities of financial investment; judgement on the current personal economic situation and future development; assessment of occupational chances in comparison to German workers; satisfaction with housing and housing situation; opportunity to cook and preparation of meals; amount of rent and maximum rent costs willing to pay; school attendance and vocational training; possession of car and car radio. Demography: size of household; number and ages of children; school attendance and vocational training; age; sex; marital status; number of children; occupation; employment; income; social origins; state; possession of assets. Interviewer rating: survey surroundings; assessment of communication difficulties; knowledge of personal language and knowledge of German; willingness of respondent to cooperate and city size.
