AbstractThe relationship of the German population to foreign workers. Topics: religiousness; nationality of spouse; age and number of children; occupational advancement; duration of unemployment; social origins; length of company employment; company size; name of company and area of business; proportion of foreigners at work; number of German and foreign colleagues in immediate work area; number of private contacts with German and foreign colleagues; job characteristics (scale); satisfaction with occupation; association with the term foreigner relative to nationality; problems due to foreigners; social distance (scale); perceived social distance of family members and friends regarding foreigners; importance and realization of material or immaterial living conditions; preferred measures to secure jobs (scale); perceived threat to personal living space (scale); authoritarianism scale; length of residence in Duisburg, in part of town and in current residence; concepts of an ideal residential area and actual housing situation; perceived threat to residential area; ties to the Ruhr area, the city of Duisburg, the part of town and the residential surroundings; residential status; manner of arranging for residence; reasons for change of residence and moving into current residence; amount of rent; desired minimum furnishing of residence; rent upper limit for a better residence; residence equipped with sanitary facilities; size of residence; deficiencies or damages in residence; satisfaction with current residence; number of foreigners in building and residential surroundings; estimate of proportion of foreigners in residential population of the city of Duisburg or part of town; importance and use of selected infrastructure facilities of residential surroundings and satisfaction with these institutions (scale); potential reasons for change of residence as well as interest in moving; readiness to discriminate (scale); hostility to foreigners (scales); concepts of the future regarding life together between Germans and foreigners; neighborhood contacts; contacts with friends and acquaintances; contacts with foreigners; sympathy for foreigners (scale); importance of selected moral concepts; evaluation of German and Turkish moral concepts; party preference; party political preference at municipal level; measures to change the relationship between Germans and foreigners.
