Further Remarks

NotesThis data set is the first wave of a two-wave survey and originated in the context of other data sets collected among the German residential population also archived in the Zentralarchiv. These are the Welfare Survey 1980 (ZA Study No. 1142) and the Transfer Survey 1981 (ZA Study No. 1604). In the first wave of the survey the transfer area was surveyed with representative households; in the second wave a randomly drawn person from the same household was interviewed on the topic areas welfare and work income. As needed the respondents were given foreign language questionnaires which then were filled out in writing under supervision and with extensive explanation by the interviewer. The second wave of this investigation is archived under ZA Study No. 1600.
