Topics: Eligibility to vote in the state; most important political problems in Schleswig-Holstein; intent to participate in the state election; preference for absentee ballot; point in time and certainty of one´s voting decision; behavior at the polls in the last state parliament election 1988; approval of a one-party government of SPD; coalition preference; sympathy scale for selected parties at federal and state level; satisfaction with the achievements of the SPD state government, CDU opposition in the state parliament and Federal Government in Bonn; sympathy scale for selected (state) politicians; party preference in the state; preference for prime minister; attitude to the policies of Engholm and Henning; evaluation of the achievements of the prime minister up to now; evaluation of the government teams of Engholm and Henning; preference for Bjoern Engholm as candidate for chancellor; attitude to the proportion of foreigners in the state; ability of a CDU-led or SPD-led state government in the fight against unemployment, improvement in the economic situation in the state, effective environmental protection, improvement in the situation in the housing market, traffic policy and solving the problem of asylum; judgement on the current and future economic situation in Schleswig-Holstein; comparison of the economic situation of Schleswig-Holstein with the rest of the western federal territory; satisfaction with the situation in the housing market; residential status; satisfaction with traffic conditions; perceived abuse of asylum; preference for an ammendment to the constitution to prevent abuse of asylum; prospects for the future of the state; pride in Schleswig-Holstein; judgement on the absence of a statement of willingness to form a coalition by the FDP; probability of formation of a government of the FDP with the CDU or SPD; assessment of the credibility of the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein since the Barschel Affair; opinion on the Republicans, DVU {deutsche Volksunion}, FDP and Greens taking seats in state parliament; judgement on the activities of various party supporters in the election campaign; assumed party or coalition that will win the state parliament election in Schleswig-Holstein; judgement on the possibility of a one-party government of SPD.     The available studies on the German ferderal state elections go back as far as 1962. These studies were conducted for the most part as representative surveys in the run-up to elections of the Landtage, the Bremer Bürgerschaft or the Berliner Abgeordnetenhaus. German Federal State Election studies which were surveyed within the framework of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) are not contained in this group.
