AbstractAttitude to unification of the two German nations. Topics: Confidence in the future; judgement on one´s own economic situation at the current point in time as well as in a year; preferred manner of cooperation of FRG and USA; national pride; attitude to admission of emigrants from the GDR, ethnic Germans from East Bloc nations, guest workers and persons seeking asylum; assessment of the burdens for the Federal Republic arising from this; attitude to unification of the two German nations; short-term and long-term expected consequences of unification (two comparable scales); expected advantages of reunification for businesses or workers; readiness for social and political changes in the framework of unification; preference for sovereignty of the GDR and presumed standpoint of the population in both the East and West on this question; desired point in time for unification; estimated time required to reach western standard of living in the GDR; expected influence of GDR elections on the flow of emigrants from East Germany; ability of the parties in questions of unification; effects of currency union on the stability of monetary value; capability of the FRG to construct a new GDR economy; party preference; behavior at the polls in the last Federal Parliament election 1987; satisfaction with party voted for; religiousness; interest in moving to the GDR.
