AbstractMotives for leaving and modalities of moving to the FRG of citizens of the GDR. Description of course of employment and housing situation as well as regional mobility in the Federal Republic. Comparisons of the situation in the Federal Republic with the earlier GDR. Judgement on the entire change from moving.   • Germany (DE), FRG incl. West Berlin
UniverseThe population of former citizens of the GDR who moved to the FRG between the middle of April 1983 and the middle of April 1986 and were registered in the Federal Registry in Giessen and Berlin. Included were men and women over 18 or under 65 years old at the time of departure.
Sampling Procedure Sampling Procedure
Representative random sample. Of the 3071 cases 444 were drawn in Berlin and 2627 in Giessen.
