AbstractAttitude towards the Euro and knowledge of its introduction. Topics: Self-assessment of state of knowledge on the Euro, knowledge test on the exact date of introduction in one’s own country as well as the , estimated duration of the transitional phase in which the old currency can also still be used; perception of the dual pricing of products; memorization of certain prices in Euro; expected improvement of memorisation if Euro prices would be shown in a highlighted way; fear of abuse in the course of the introduction of the Euro (scale); knowledge test on the EU-wide validity of all Euro notes and coins as well as on the exchange rate specifications already carried out in one’s own country, assessment of select consequences of the introduction of the Euro: Price comparison, equal meaning of the Euro with the dollar as an international currency, economic growth, gap between rich and poor, employment vacancies, purchases in other countries with Euro currency, exchange charges, travelling within the EU, price stability, personal advantages, control of the national government over the economic policy, national identity; concern about the value of the Euro compared with the dollar; personal and professional experience with the Euro; knowledge of the exchange rate of the Euro and national currency. Demography: Sex; age; age when finished full time education; professional position; party preference; region; size of locality.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
