AbstractAttitude of the non-Euro countries towards the introduction of the Euro in Euro-countries. Topics: State of information on the Euro; knowledge of the numerous usage possibilities of Euro coins and banknotes in Euro-countries; one’s own contact with Euro banknotes and prices in Euros; knowledge of the duration of the acceptance of the old national currency as a method of payment; assessment of the difficulties caused by the introduction of the Euro; assessment of the facilitation caused by the introduction of the Euro: development of the Euro to an international currency similar to the U.S. Dollar; expectation of economic growth within the Euro countries, expectation of an approximation of the Euro countries, emergence of new jobs, expected simplification of shopping, ease of travelling within the EU, expectation of price stability in the Euro zone, personal advantages from the Euro introduction as well as the elimination of conversion charges; assumed satisfaction of citizens of Euro countries with the introduction of the Euro; concern about the exchange rate in proportion to the U.S. dollar; knowledge of the exchange rate of national currency in Euros and Dollars; judgement of the integrative functions of the Euro in non-Euro and non-European countries; assessment of the possibility of introduction of the Euro in one’s own country; knowledge of the non-Euro countries; estimation of personal difficulties as well as the possibility of price increases as a result of Euro introduction in own country; opinion on introducing the Euro in own country; assessment of the unfair rises in price due to the introduction of the Euro; view of the Euro introduction as a historic event.     The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
