Abstract | Preparations of Slovenian banks for the changeover to euro. Topics: supply and time of supply of bank branch with euro banknotes and euro coins before January 2007; amount of banknotes and coins received corresponding to requested amount; reasons for not being supplied; contacting of business customers in order to supply them with euro cash; estimated proportion of business customers requesting to be provided with euro cash; assessment of the amount of requests to be satisfied before January 2007; operating of cash dispensers (ATMs) in the branch; date and time at which conversion of cash dispensers to euro is expected to be completed; euro banknote denominations that are planned to be dispensed in ATMs in the first two weeks of January 2007; experienced problems and kind of problems in terms of cash logistics related to the changeover (regarding both euro and tolar); expectation of further problems and kind of these problems; time at which issuing national cash at counters is intended to be stopped; measures taken and kind of measures to cope with backflow of national cash. Demography: bank chain; number of banks in the branch in Slovenia; position of respondent in the branch; number of employees in the branch. Additionally coded was: date of interview; duration of the interview. |

The initial sample of the bank sector was stratified to include 75 bank branches and 25 bank branches in post offices. Despite all efforts (including facilitation attempt by the Bank Association of Slovenia) the actual sample size remaines at 47 branches.
The sample lists were developed using national bank branches (IPIS). Selection of banks was carried out randomly.
The person interviewed in each branch was a Branch Manager, the person designated to Euro-coordinator in the branch or another relevant manager of the bank.
