AbstractCivil rights in Europe. Topics: knowledge of the concept of citizenship of the European Union; self-assessment of knowledge on the rights as a European Union citizen; knowledge test about citizenship of the European Union: acquisition of citizenship, simultaneous existence of the European citizenship and the national citizenship, possibility to choose not to be a citizen of the Union; rights of citizens of the Union: free choice of residence, the right to make a complaint to the European Commission, European Parliament or European Ombudsman, the right to equal treatment in all EU countries, the right to aks for help at embassies of other EU Member States if the respondents country does not have an embassy there, the right to participate in citizens´ initiative, the right to address directly to the authority of the EU Member State of residence to get a passport; self-assessment of knowledge about what one can do if his rights as an EU citizen ar not respected; free movement within the EU brings benefits to the national economy; desired amount of help from embassies of a EU Member State if no embassy of the country of origin exists; in cases where family members of EU citizens are not nationals of an EU Member State, they should get assistance by the embassies of Member States under the same conditions as EU citizens. Demography: sex; age; age at the end of education; occupation and occupational status; region; degree of ubranization; landline phone or mobile phone in the houshold; number of persons aged 15 years or more in the household (household size). Additionally encoded: weighting factor.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
