AbstractAttitudes towards non-governmental organisations. Political participation. Topics: approval of the following statements: non-governmental organisations are able to influence political decision making at different political levels (local or regional, national, EU level), respondent shares values of selected organisations and trusts them to influence political decision making in the right way, European citizens have other means of influencing political decision making; assessment of the effectiveness of selected actions to influence political decision making: voting (in local or regional, national, and European elections), membership in a non-governmental organisation; political participation at local or regional, national, or EU level in the last two years: participation in public debates, expression of own views on public issues with elected representative, signing of a petition; membership in selected non-governmental organisations. Demography: age; sex; nationality; age at end of education; occupation; professional position; region; type of community; own a mobile phone and fixed (landline) phone; household composition and household size. Additionally coded was: type of phone line; nation group; weighting factor.

  •  EB - Flash Eurobarometer
    The Flash Eurobarometer were launched by the European Commission in the late eighties, turning out a Monthly Monitor between in 1994 and 1995. These “small scale” surveys are conducted in all EU member states at times, occasionally reducing or enlarging the scope of countries as a function of specific topics. The typical sample size is 500-1000 respondents per country and interviews are usually conducted by phone in the respective national language. The Flash Eurobarometer include series on special topics (Common Currency, EU Enlargement, Information Society, Entrepreneurship, Innovation) as well as special target group polls, particularly company managers with enterprise related topics.
